THE
OF SALVATION

"But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ" 2 Corinthians 11:3

God is not the author of confusion. The Bible, when rightly divided, will remove all confusion about this important subject. God loves you. He desires your salvation. Salvation is not some mystery that cannot be understood. It is as simple as A B C.

A -ALL HAVE SINNED-THE PROBLEM OF SIN

There is one difference between the unsaved and eternal life. It is his sin. You have sinned. We sin daily. We will sin tomorrow and all the tomorrows of this life. That is a serious problem. Sin must be dealt with. Isaiah describes all of us. Isaiah 1:3-6 says: "The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master's crib: but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider. Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel to anger, they are gone away backward. Why should ye be stricken more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint. From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores..." Romans 3:10-18 says: "There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: Their feet are swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery are in their ways: And the way of peace have they not known: There is no fear of God before their eyes."

Your first step of responsibility toward salvation is to have an overwhelming conviction that your sins are great enough to send you to an eternal hell. If you don't believe that, you will never be saved. Are you a sinner? If you received the reward for your sins, would you deserve to go to hell? To be saved means that we are saved from the consequences of our sins. Those consequences are eternal death and hell. Since all have sinned, that is their fate.

B -BELIEVE ON THE LORD JESUS- THE PROMISE OF THE SPIRIT

A gambler places his money where his faith is. However, he may lose. The believer in Jesus Christ places all his hope for eternity on Jesus Christ. He cannot lose because Jesus did not lose. He has already won! He never sinned. He also conquered death and the grave.

1 Corinthians 15:3-4 says: “For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:” The Lord Jesus died on the cross, went to the grave, arose and ascended to heaven for you. Just as Adam brought sin and death to you, Jesus brought forgiveness and resurrection to life for you. The Bible says the reason we sin is because we were in Adam when he disobeyed God. Believe that. It also tells us that we were in Jesus Christ when He died, was buried and rose again. Believe that. He is our payment and eternal Life. He wants to be yours. He can be when you accept Him by faith. Paul told the Jailer that belief in Jesus Christ was the answer to his salvation question. “... Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” (Acts 16:30-31). Notice that he did not tell him that baptism, confirmation, church membership, the sacraments, good works or a positive mental attitude would bring salvation. He gave one simple answer and any one can understand it.

Jesus Christ can pay for our sins because He is Holy. He is God in the flesh! The songwriter, Isaac Watts wrote: “Alas! And did my Savior bleed: and did my Sovereign die? Would He devote that sacred head for such a worm as I?” Charles Wesley wrote: “Amazing love! How can it be that Thou, my God, shouldst die for me?” All false religious systems teach their followers that they merit salvation by what they do for their god or gods. However, the Word of God teaches that we have eternal life because of what our God did for us. He died for us! Jesus Christ is God in the flesh. That is why we are told in Acts 16:31 “believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.”

C -CALL ON THE LORD- THE PROCURING OF SALVATION

We may know these things and still not be saved. There is one other important step. It is found in Romans 10:9-11. It says: “...if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in heart that God hath raised him he dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteous; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.” You can call without believing, but you cannot truly believe without calling. Below are some examples of the A B C's of salvation. Notice that each person realized his condition. Second, each man believed Jesus Christ would save him. Finally each called. Notice. “And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.” (Luke 23:42-43). “And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.” (Luke 18:13-14). “But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?” (Matthew 14:30-31). Your salvation is just as simple.

A- Admit that you are a sinner.

B - Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and His finished work of salvation for you.

C - Call on Him today and accept His salvation gift. Will you receive Jesus today?
