"PUPPETS"

"I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND"

Bernie: Woof, W0-00-00-f!

Butch: What are you trying to say, Bernie?

Bernie: Why, Butch, don't you understand dog-talk? I said "Happy Fall".

Butch: I guess I'm going to have to brush up on my dog dialect. I've gotten a little rusty since you haven't been around much.

Bernie: Well, you know, you aren't the only friend I have. I have people all over Garrett and Auburn, Altoona and Corunna, Avilla and LaOtta, say, that could make a catchy song title. But anyway, back to what I was saying, I have friends all over who give me food to eat and pat me on the head and scratch my ears.

Butch: Bernie, I would do all that for you if you would stick around a little more. And "Happy Fall" to you, too.

Bernie: You know, Butch, I just don't understand what all this Fall business is all about. Especially the dressing up. I thought Fall was leaves, bringing in the crops, apple cider, pumpkins and all that stuff.

Butch: There are some things that I just don't understand either, Bernie. Like--Why do people dress up in witch's outfits and red devil's suits. Don't they know that this thing called Holloween is a pagan worship ritual. That we are asking for trouble if we practice such things before God.

Bernie: Whoa, there, Butch. You forgot about tradition. We have been doing it for years. Doesn't that count for anything?

Butch: That's true, Bernie, but isn't about time we gave in to God instead of the World?

Bernie: What do you mean to give into God?

Butch: Well, for years people have been practicing Halloween, isn't it time that they followed God instead and not practice a pagan ritual?

Bernie: I guess there are a lot of things that we don't understand but we just have to have faith in God and His Word.

Butch: YOU GOT IT !! And we had better get out of here so the kids can go to Children's Church. Maybe we should join them for refreshments. I hear they are going to be good.

Bernie: I'll bet they are having dog biscuits.

Butch: Oh, Bernie, act your age. I'll see you later. Bye, kids. Bye,

Bernie: Woof. Woof. WO-OO-OO-f. That's "Fall Harvest Festival" to all of you. Both the little and the big kids. See you soon. Bye, Louise.
