"SINGING IN THE RAIN" ~~ Psalm 78:17-22 ~~ PUPPETS: Sally & Dad

DAD: Sally, do you remember a couple of weeks ago when we were going to have a picnic.
SALLY: I sure do. It was Saturday and it was early in the morning and because the skies looked bad you said we ought to postpone our picnic.
DAD: Do you remember how unhappy Butch was because we postponed it?
SALLY: Yes I do. As the raindrops began to fall, his eyebrows drew together in a frown.
DAD: And when the rain poured down, he grew downright grumpy. I even remember what he said, he said, "My whole day is spoiled" over and over.
SALLY: Yes, and I remember right in the middle of that I had to quiet him because I heard a robin singing from a tree top in the rain.
DAD: That's right and Butch complained "Well, let the dumb bird sing. My day is ruined".
SALLY: Your right, Dad. And I remember how you reminded him that grumbling didn't please God, but Butch was so disappointed.
DAD: But didn't we have fun. After we got the games out and decided that we were going to have fun in spite of the rain.
SALLY: We had a wonderful picnic right there on the floor. We sat on a blanket on the floor and ate our dinner.
DAD: Yes and as I remember it Butch started having fun.
SALLY: He even said the most amazing thing. He said, "The whole day was so much fun I forgot about the rain." He also said, "That robin had the right idea about singin' in the rain"
DAD: Yow, his grumbling didn't stop the rain from coming and he had as much fun as if he had gone on a picnic, well, almost as much fun.
SALLY: That robin was a good example for us. There's always cause to sing, even when it rains.
DAD: Hey, Boys & Girls, do you grumble when it "rains" in your life -- when things don't go your way? There are plenty of reasons to be happy and sing in spite of rain or other disappointments.
SALLY: And best of all, you please God by being cheerful even when you are disappointed. Bye everybody. Bye Peggy. (puppets down)
