PUPPET SCRIPT

By Louise Ferry

"COUNT ON ME"
Lectionary Reading 2 Thessalonians 3:6-13
PUPPETS: Sally & Dad

SALLY: Boy, I'm dead tired this morning.

DAD: Me too. That sure was a lot of work last night.

SALLY: I know, dad, and I feel so bad about what happened.

DAD: How many children were at the youth party last night, Sally?

    SALLY: There were 31, dad.

DAD: How can you be sure, Sally. The mess they left looked like it came from a larger group.

SALLY: Mr. Trenton had me count them.

DAD: Oh. Well, it sure looked like a larger crowd was there. Where did everybody go?

SALLY: Well, one by one they slipped away as their parents came and picked them up.

DAD: You mean that Mr. & Mrs. Trenton were left to clean up the mess by themselves?

SALLY: Yes, but it wasn't suppose to be that way. Each child volunteered to help clean up after it was over so they could have the party. But they all disappeared when it came time to clean up.

DAD: So you were to help too, huh Sally?

SALLY: Yes. I sure feel guilty about that.

DAD: It's a good thing that I came by the church last night after dropping off the kids I transported, and saw the lights on, else the Trentons would still be here cleaning this morning.

SALLY: The Trentons do so much for the youth group and we don't do anything in return.

DAD: How about it boys and girls? Do you enjoy parties at the church? Have you ever thought about all the work involved in planning a party.

SALLY: But dad, that could go for adults too?

DAD: Our Scripture today says that those who won't work shouldn't eat, either.

SALLY: That's true about parties as well as about daily life.

DAD: Next time adults plan a special event for you, tell them "Thank You" and show them you mean it by doing what you can to help.

SALLY: That's what the Lord would want you to do. Bye everyone.

DAD: Bye Sally. Bye boys and girls.
