"GROWING UP"
Scripture Reading 1 Peter 2:2-10
PUPPETS: Mom & Dad

DAD: Did you hear about the Jacob family?

MOM: I guess not. What happened.

DAD: Well, you knew that Mrs. Jacob was pregnant.

MOM: Yes. It was hard to miss each Sunday as she made her way to the choir loft. I noticed she had been missing from choir for several weeks.

DAD: She had the baby. Their kids just loved little Aaron. Their daughter Judy play with him from the very beginning. And their son Bob would carry him around every chance he got, whenever Judy wasn't playing with him.

MOM: It is really nice that they all got along so well. You know sometimes there is jealousy among the children.

DAD: It is great but things have changed.

    MOM: In what way?

DAD: It seems they thought something was wrong with the baby so they had little Aaron checked. They did a MRI or was it a CAT Scan, or PDQ or something like that and found out that little Aaron would never be able to do some of the things most children do.

MOM: That is bad news. How is the family handling it?

DAD: Everyone is handling it well except for Judy.

MOM: What seems to be her problem?

DAD: She claimed that Aaron had changed and she didn't want to play with him any more. Mrs. Jacob reminded her that Aaron hadn't changed, that Judy had. Judy said she was disappointed.

MOM: I hope she reminded her they were all disappointed.

DAD: Yes Dear they did. She told Judy they were also but that they didn't grow bitter. Her mom asked her some very straight questions.

MOM: Mrs. Jacob has a way of making her point. How did she handle this?

DAD: Mrs. Jacob asked Judy if she was not saved a few years ago to which Judy said yes. Then she told her that if she were growing spiritually as she should, she would be worrying about Aaron instead of herself. That she shouldn't be ashamed.

MOM: That's what I like about Mrs. Jacob, she gets to the heart of the matter.

DAD: Mrs. Jacob continued by telling her that she and dad had 2 handicapped children. One mentally handicapped and one spiritually handicapped. That caused tears and Judy said she never thought of herself like that. She asked to hold Aaron, gave him a hug and a kiss and said he was sweet.

MOM: I bet Mrs. Jacob thinks Judy is sweet now also. They are all growing. Bye everyone.
