"GET OUT OF THE DUMP"
2 Peter 3:8-15a
PUPPETS: Sally & Mom

(Sally is on stage and appears to be thinking. She doesn't hear Mom the first 2 times)

MOM: (puppet up) Sally. Sally!! Sally!!!

SALLY: Yes. I'm sorry. What did you want?

MOM: I was wondering where you were.

SALLY: I was just thinking about the trip we made yesterday.

MOM: You mean to the trash dump?

    SALLY: Yes. The trash dump.

. MOM: What was it about the trash dump that interested you so much?

SALLY: It was the mice. The mice running around and playing and making nest and gathering food.

MOM: Mice. That is strange. They were going to come the next day and burn that pile of trash.

SALLY: That is what I was thinking about last night when I came home and went to change clothes.

MOM: You thought about the mice when we came home?

SALLY: Yes, the mice and the fact that the next day that would all end because they were going to burn the trash pile, then haul it away.

MOM: I can see how you might be upset by the baby mice that would perish.

SALLY: That's right, but when I saw my room and looked around and saw the dolls, their clothes, the doll house, my girl scout book, my CD's, and my comic books, I thought "this stuff won't last"

MOM: None of the stuff any of us have will last.

SALLY: I just hate to be like those mice, spending all my life on things that are going to be burned up anyway.

MOM: Well, then, maybe it's time that all of us got out of the DUMP and started spending more time on things that really matter

SALLY: I think I'll pitch these comic books and replace them with my Bible.

MOM: That's a good start. What about you boys and girls? Isn't it about time you spent more time on eternal things? Remember, the temporary things will be burned up, the eternal things will last. Let's get out of the dump. (puppets down)
