PUPPET SCRIPT

By Louise Ferry

"EH! WHAT DID YOU SAY?"
Psalm 4
PUPPETS: Ralph and Elmer

RALPH: I wonder where Elmer is. Hey, Elmer. Are you home?

ELMER: (puppet up but he says nothing - just looks around - waves to congregation)

RALPH: Elmer! Say, what's wrong with you? Are you deaf or just ignoring me?

ELMER: (turns to see Ralph - surprised to see him -says) Oh, hi there, Ralph. What are you up to? Have you been here long?

RALPH: Well, I've been here quite a while. I've been talking to you but you didn't answer me. I felt like I was talking to myself.

ELMER: What did you say, Ralph? I can see your mouth move but nothing comes out.

RALPH: Elmer, let me see your ears. Oh, I forgot you can't hear me. I bet you forgot to put in your hearing aids.

ELMER: I know what the problem is. I forgot to put in my hearing aids. Where in tarnation did I put them? (puppet down then right back up) Wow, that makes a world of difference.

RALPH: I'm sure glad that we finally got that figured out. I felt like I was all alone up here.

ELMER: Since we had all this problem with hearing, it made me remember a Psalm.

RALPH: What are you talking about, Elmer?

ELMER: You see, in the Bible, there is a section called Psalms and the one I remembered was Psalm 4.

    RALPH: Tell me more, please.

ELMER: This verse was written by David and he was asking God to answer him when he called out to him.

RALPH: Just like earlier when I was calling out to you?

ELMER: Yes, like that. David asked God to be merciful to him and to hear his prayer.

RALPH: Well, I hope God answers my prayer that whenever I come over to see you, you have your hearing aids in your ears, not on your dresser or somewhere else.

ELMER: That did make things difficult for us but God doesn't need hearing aids to hear our prayers. He is a great and mighty God.

RALPH: We are so blessed to have God there to help us whenever we call out to Him.

ELMER: Yep, you got that right! Well, I'd better go. Need to get some batteries for my hearing aids. See you, Ralph. Bye kids.

RALPH: Catch you later, Elmer. So long everybody.
