PUPPET SCRIPT

By Louise Ferry

"KOOL KATS?"
1 Thessalonians 5:14-23
PUPPETS: Sally & Mom

SALLY: Oh, boy. I was elected to the Kool Kats Klub. Ain't that neat?

MOM: Isn't that neat, I'm not so sure it is. What do these particular 'Kats' do?

SALLY: (with a questioning attitude) They have meetings and talk about stuff and do things together.

MOM: Better check them out before you get involved with them.

SALLY: I don't see why. They sound neat to me. And by the way, what was that dish we had for dinner last night?

MOM: It's a new recipe and I figured you were hungry.

SALLY: Is that the reason you gave me so much? What if I didn't like it?

MOM: Well, it's called Continental Hash. Sounds real neat, doesn't it?

SALLY: You sure couldn't tell anything by its name. But it did taste good, but I don't like mushrooms.

MOM: That's why I didn't give you many. I did notice that you had a second helping and you avoided getting any mushrooms. You checked it out so you could take what you found to be good and avoid what was not good.

SALLY: Why, is there something special about that?

MOM: Yes, there is. That's just what the Bible tells us to do. In 1-Thessalonians, Pauls says to 'prove' --- to test or check out --- all things.

    SALLY: He doesn't mean food.

MOM: I think Paul is warning us about jumping into things we haven't checked out.

SALLY: Like the Kool Kats? Well, I did talk to Butch, but you know how much I don't trust Butch, and he said the Kool Kats aren't so cool. He said they showed him a magazine they were taking to a meeting and it was bad.

MOM: I'm glad you listened to Butch. Because he told me they let it slip that they buy cigarettes with part of the club money.

SALLY: I'm glad I found out before I turned over half of my allowance for dues.

MOM: I'm glad you are starting to take the Apostle Paul's advice. Remember what Paul said, "check out all things, hold fast to that which is good". Bye everybody. Bye Sally.

SALLY: Bye Louise. Bye Peggy. Bye boys and girls.
