PUPPET SCRIPT

By Louise Ferry

"THE HIGH ROAD "
Scripture Reading Isaiah 42:1-9
PUPPETS: Roscoe & Speedy (rabbits)

SPEEDY: Roscoe, why are you out here instead of in the nest with the rest of the rabbits working?

ROSCOE: Do you have any idea of how hard that work is down there? Why, they are trying to make the living room larger and have run into a rock.

SPEEDY: Yes, Roscoe, I do know how hard the work is, but have you noticed that winter is upon us?

ROSCOE: Sure. What has that to do with anything?

SPEEDY: It has everything to do with what we are doing. I don't suppose that you have noticed that the family is bigger than it was last year?

ROSCOE: I know I have enough brothers and sisters that I can't find a place to sit at meal time.

SPEEDY: Precisely what I am talking about.

ROSCOE: No, you were talking about winter and a rock.

SPEEDY: It also has to do with a place for you to sit.

ROSCOE: When you get the rock out of the way and the going gets easier, I come and help.

SPEEDY: We won't need you then. We need you now.

ROSCOE: I'm not ready now, I'll be ready when the rock is out of the way.

SPEEDY: Roscoe, do you remember last summer when we were having lunch outside the little church?

ROSCOE: Yes, the grass was tender and easy to get to.

SPEEDY: I know that but I was remembering what that preacher man said.

ROSCOE: Oh, who listens to those preachers anyway. They always want you to do something.

SPEEDY: Well, we may not go to heaven but humans have the chance.

ROSCOE: So, that's suppost to comfort me?

SPEEDY: But what if their Jesus had not pressed on, what if He had faltered? They wouldn't have heaven either.

ROSCOE: So, what has that to do with me, a rabbit?

SPEEDY: Well, our little heaven is a place to keep warm in the winter and have a place to eat. That rock is in our way and we need your help. We don't need you to falter.

ROSCOE: I see. If Jesus had faltered those humans wouldn't have heaven and if I falter, I won't either.

SPEEDY: That's it Roscoe, let's get the job finished. Let's not falter. Bye everyone.

ROSCOE: Yes, boys and girls. Don't you falter in your work for Jesus. Bye.
